I came across a handy tool tucked into the Self Magazine‘s web pages while searching for nutritional information on rainbow chard. This tool provides very detailed information on various foods, including their glycemic index – handy for us diabetics. Just for fun I looked up the nutrients in fried bacon and compared it to grilled salmon – oh my goodness. I knew that salmon is good for you and bacon is best enjoyed infrequently in modest amounts, but the difference was even more than I suspected.
Here’s a link to the Nutrient tool. Enter a food into search box at the top of the page and find out just about everything there is to know about an egg, or chard, or a doughnut. nutritiondata.self.com
