Can it really be December 31st already? Please accept all of my best wishes to you and your loved ones for a wonderful new year.
Today I am making last minute preparations for a small New Year’s Eve gathering. We have invited neighborhood friends to join us this evening so that, by walking, we and they can avoid tipsy drivers while getting to and from a New Year’s party. I am making Chicago Style Deep-Dish Pizza, accompanied by a Caesar salad, and finishing with a nice champagne sorbet. The two-page pizza recipe looks intimidating but it’s not. The sauce can be made ahead, the dough is made in a stand-mixer, and the pies bake in about half an hour. The salad dressing and croutons can be made the day before and assembled while the pizza is baking. I’ll make the sorbet in my little ice cream maker, a couple of hours before guests arrive so that it’s still a little slushy when served.
With most of the food prep done ahead of time I am happy to say I have the time to fuss with the table setting, and post an article on my website. One of my resolutions for the coming year is to spend time learning more about my website’s formatting. I’d like to get more comfortable with modifying the style and look of my pages. And as much as I like the photo of my candlelit table that serves as my web page background, after a year and a half, it might be time to use something new.
